The much-awaited Monsoon Festival in Gujarat is an annual event celebrated amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Saputara region in the Dang District. This year, mark your calendars from 26 July 2025 to 17 August 2025, as the Saputara Monsoon Festival is set to captivate visitors with its enchanting charm..

Where

Nestled around the picturesque Saputara Lake, the event came alive with many cultural and regional activities, making it a true celebration. Visitors immersed themselves in the vibrant traditions, danced to the rhythm of local folk performances, indulged in delectable regional cuisine, and witnessed the rich heritage of Gujarat on full display.

Inaugural Parade at Saputara Monsoon Festival:

The inaugural parade (Indian folk carnival, Ek Rang Bharat) of the Saputara Monsoon Festival 2025 was a grand celebration of India’s rich folk traditions, with performers from across the country coming together in a vibrant cultural display. Maharashtra showcased the energy and grace of Lavani folk dance along with Dhangari Gaja. From the north, Punjab brought the infectious spirit of Bhangra, while Rajasthan’s Kalbeliya dancers mesmerized the audience with their swirling movements. West Bengal presented the martial elegance of Chhau dance, and Assam lit up the stage with the spirited rhythms of Bihu. Madhya Pradesh contributed the joyous beats of the Badhai folk dance, while Telangana added tribal vibrancy with the Gussadi dance. Karnataka’s performers brought to life the traditional Poojakunitha, Himachal Pradesh featured the colorful Nati dance, and Haryana energized the crowd with the powerful Dhamal. Together, these performances were presented by a troupe of 150 artists, setting the stage for a culturally rich and visually stunning parade..

Complementing the traditional dance showcase, a vibrant folk carnival featured 50 performers handling large artistic props and symbolic elements like Big Kawadi, Jumping Kawadi, Giant Puppets, Ladakhi Masks, a Snow Lion, Wings, and decorative Face Masks, adding theatrical charm and grandeur to the event.

Gujarat, as the host of the festival, presented one of the largest contingents with 154 artists performing a rich blend of regional styles such as Dangi folk dance, Umbrella Hudo, Rathwa dance, Siddi Dhamal, Talvar Raas, Bhavada, Dobru-Kircha, Female Garba, 52 Beda, Dangi-Kahadiya dance, and Mewasi dance—each reflecting the state’s deep-rooted cultural heritage.

Altogether, more than 350 folk artists from across India came together in Saputara, turning the inaugural parade into a mesmerizing blend of rhythm, color, tradition, and unity.

Grand Inaugural Function (under Ek Baharat Shrestha Baharat) at Saputara Monsoon Festival:

Gujarat will showcase one of the largest contingents at the festival, featuring 154 artists performing diverse regional styles like Dangi, Umbrella Hudo, Rathwa, Siddi Dhamal, Talvar Raas, Bhavada, Garba, 52 Beda, and Mewasi dances—highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage.

Suggested Weekend Activities

The festival included engaging weekend activities across three weeks:

● Week 1: A Tribal Food Festival, Tattoo Workshop, Art & Craft Stalls, Tribal Costume Photoshoot, Old Vintage Games Zone, Folk Fusion Concert, and a Warli Painting Workshop.

● Week 2: Events included Sunday Cycling, Bamboo & Craft Workshop, Vintage Game Arena, Raphe Making Workshop, Puppet Show, Evening Live Music Band, and Lake-side Storytelling.

● Week 3: Visitors enjoyed a Farmers’ Market with organic products, Face Painting, Balloon Twisting, DIY Umbrella Painting, Kids’ Games, and a Magic Show.
