Narmada district is one of the prominent districts of Gujarat, renowned for its rich natural beauty, cultural heritage, and spiritual significance. Named after the sacred River Narmada, the district was formed in 1997 with Rajpipla as its headquarters. The region is largely tribal-dominated and is home to diverse communities that continue to preserve their traditional customs, festivals, and unique lifestyles.
Blessed with dense forests, hills, rivers, waterfalls, and rich wildlife, Narmada district has emerged as an important eco-tourism destination in the state. The district has gained national and international recognition with the presence of the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Along with modern tourism infrastructure, the district also holds immense religious and historical importance due to its ancient temples, pilgrimage sites, forts, and the holy Narmada River.
With a harmonious blend of nature, culture, spirituality, and development, Narmada district offers a unique and enriching experience for tourists, making it one of Gujarat’s most attractive and evolving tourism destinations.
The statue has been built as an ode to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of independent India. He was responsible for uniting all 562 princely states of the country to build the Republic of India.
