Lakshminarayan Temple

Lakshminarayan Temple Gir-Somnath

The Vishnu temple at the central circle in Somnath is built in a South Indian style with a yellow-tiered gopuram. It stands as a beacon to the start of the ‘temple-trail’ in the middle of the town. The temple does not stand in a sprawling complex but has a towering gopuram with intricate sculptures on heavenly themes. Inside the main sanctum stands an idol of Lord Vishnu, along with his consort, Goddess Lakshmi.

Brief History: The Laxminarayan temple has a stream of devotees who come to pay respects to the divine ‘Shreevigraha’ of Bhagwan Laxminarayan. The temple is said to be created after the Laxminarayan Temple of Badrinath.

Best time to visit: The best time to visit is between the cooler months of November to February. Devotees visit throughout the year.
