About the location: There are a number of Swaminarayan (Krishna) temples in Gujarat, all marked by grand architecture and highly decorative features like intricate sculptures and doors, and a sanctum with a radiant deity inside. This temple, in the heart of Anand town, is no different. The temple has been built on the principles of Vedic Hinduism.

Brief History: Swaminarayan Sampraday or Uddhav Sampraday is a Hindu sect propagated by Swaminarayan who lived between 1781 and 1830. During this period he ensured that the movement based on Vedic philosophy gained strength. Apart from traditional Hindu scriptures, the sect has its own writings, of which, Shikshapatri is the most famous one.
