About the location: Bhuj is home to a number of museums, focussing on Kutch culture. This museum has excellent displays on traditional culture of the region, including reconstructed Rabari bhungas (mud-and-mirrorwork huts), musical instruments, wood and stone carvings and much more. The vintage Kutch textiles are particularly worthwhile, especially if you haven’t had a chance to visit the Calico Museum in Ahmedabad. It’s a further 700m south of the Kutch Museum, off Mandvi Rd.
Brief History: This is the oldest museum of Gujarat, and was established in 1877. It was originally a part of the School of Arts constructed by the Maharao of Kutch, Khengarji III, and was called Fergusson Museum.
By road: state and private buses service the city from all major parts of Gujarat.
By rail: The railway station lies on the western railways network
By air: Bhuj is well connected by air, rail and road. The Bhuj airport lies 4 km from the city and has ample domestic flights from major destinations in India.
